Again planting can be as simple as Seed, Soil, Water, Sun and Done but this will be an average home growers.
There are 3 basic sections to a seed tray system: Top Humitity dome normally only used during germination until seedling breaks through the soil, insert tray with can come in a varity of cell sizes 18, 36, 48, 72 and 128. And the bottom trays also known as FLATS which there are 2 options with holes for well drainage vs non-holes.
Trays & Inserts Plastic, Biodegradable vs DIY Wood. Plastic can be used a couple season but are make kind of cheap, they will crack or even shrink from heat (unless you buy heavy duty which are expensive). Biodegradable are a one time use. DIY Wooded Tray bottoms also known as FLATS are sometimes nice but wooded cell trays are bulky, heavy, and hard to get seedlings out of.
